Arriving in the Dominican Republic in 1868, Don Andres Brugal was the first to age rum in barrels. Aging in cellars located in the north of the island, in a tropical environment, has been mastered by the Brugal family for over five generations. Made from the molasses of cane grown in the Dominican Republic, Brugal 1888 is first aged in bourbon barrels. After this initial maturation (6 to 8 years), a second maturation is carried out in oloroso sherry casks from Europe, for 6 years.

Description
This warm, well-balanced rum offers woody, cocoa and red fruit aromas, supported by notes of sweet spices (cinnamon, vanilla), nuts and raisins. Serve dry or with an ice cube of coconut water.
Tasting note
Nose
Complex and particularly spicy (pepper, star anise, clove), chocolate and coffee. Notes of mustard seeds and tobacco accentuate the character of this rum, brought out by the Sherry cask.
Palate
Lively, full-length. Fruity and spicy (clove, cinnamon, orange zest), the sherry brings with it dried fruits (roasted nuts) and light notes of encaustic (beeswax). Aromas of cocoa and heather honey enrich the taste palette.
Overall
Long, rich. Many red fruits take center stage (strawberry, raspberry, redcurrant, wild strawberry). Then notes of leather, cocoa bean, pecan and vanilla bean are nuances that revolve around the woodiness.
