Description
Cutxan is the name of a neighboring hamlet of this domain, located in low Armagnac on the commune of Cazaubon, the land is windy, the soil is sandy, the place is peaceful. In the autumn, only the flights of goshawks and the very particular phonetics disturb the vines.
Tasting note
Nose
Woody, spicy nose (pepper, curry, clove, caraway) followed by vanilla, baked apple, and crème brûlée aromas. Next come dried fruits, figs, dates, and perhaps a hint of cola.
Palate
A bold attack, swept away by a silky texture, Armagnac prune ice cream, walnuts, raisins, dark chocolate, dulce de leche, and baked brioche. The palate reveals aromas of cooked pineapple and ripe banana.
Overall
What richness and freshness in this 2002 Cutxan. The oak brings a freshness of licorice with a delicious finish. Find some good company for this tasting, or if not, let’s be selfish and enjoy it ourselves!
